Conservative Dentistry is that branch of dentistry that
deals with prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries
of hard tissues and endodontics deals with treatment of
diseases of pulp of tooth and associated periapical lesions
The
department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics gives
training to 100 undergraduates in the pre-clinical and
clinical programs and admits 8 PG students each year.
Initially practical training is given to all students on
phantom heads during the pre-clinical year and there are
separate clinics both for the undergraduates and post
graduate students.
Special
camps are held on Sundays in remote, rural sectors. These
camps are attended by the faculty/residents/students from
the various disciplines of the profession. The average
patient turnout at these camps ranges from 60-1500 per camp.
These camps also include oral health education, oral
prophylaxis, restorative procedures and exodontia.
Importance is given to the preventive aspects of oral
health. All the services provided are free of charge.
Daily out patient strength is around 75-100. There is also a lab for casting
facilities for the students. Special are is given to proper cleaning and
sterilization of instruments. Modern equipments such as digital radiography
are available to the postgraduates.
