Department Overview
The Department of Microbiology plays a crucial role in patient care, medical education, and research activities at Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital. The department caters to the diagnostic needs of both Out-Patient (OPD) and In-Patient Departments, providing comprehensive microbiological investigations and laboratory support services.
The department is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and conducts routine as well as advanced diagnostic investigations in Bacteriology, Serology, Immunology, Virology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Parasitology, and Medical Entomology. The department performs a large number of investigations every month, contributing significantly to patient diagnosis and treatment.
Diagnostic Services
The department provides diagnostic services for infectious diseases, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, culture and sensitivity testing, serological investigations, fungal studies, parasitological examinations, tuberculosis diagnosis, and advanced virology investigations including Hepatitis and HIV testing.
Special Facilities
The department has received approval from NACO for establishing a Voluntary Confidential Counselling and Testing Centre (VCCTC) for HIV/AIDS. It also actively participates in awareness programs related to HIV/AIDS, infection control, and public health initiatives.
Bacteriology Laboratory
